Glass could once only be made in relatively small sections, which gave rise to the iconic six-over-six configuration now synonymous with Georgian architecture. The style defined British building between 1714 and 1830 and remains one of the most sought-after window designs for period homes.

We provide an initial quotation within 1–3 days of your enquiry.

Site survey
Within 1–2 weeks we measure and document the openings on site, recording profiles, sightlines and any conservation status.

Drawings & approval
We produce production drawings and a specification for your approval — and to support any planning or listed building consent.

Manufacture
Once your specification is approved, each window is crafted to your approved specification. Typically 5–8 weeks; 7–12 weeks for larger or bespoke conservation work.

What is a six-over-six Georgian sash window?
A six-over-six sash window has two sliding sashes, each divided into six panes by slim glazing bars — twelve panes in total. This is the classic Georgian arrangement, originating when glass could only be produced in small sections. We also make eight-over-eight, nine-over-nine and half-Georgian configurations.
Can Georgian sash windows have double glazing?
Yes. Our slimline double glazing achieves a whole-window U-value of approximately 1.6–1.9 W/m²K while keeping traditional proportions. For listed buildings, vacuum glazing reaches approximately 0.8–1.0 W/m²K within an ultra-slim unit that retains the look of traditional single glazing.
