How our timber windows are made

Every window and door we supply is designed and specified in Britain and expertly crafted by our trusted European partner workshops, then finished and installed by our own FENSA-registered team. From timber selection through joinery, finishing and ironmongery, here is how a Timber Sash Windows London window is made.

Timber & joinery

Built from engineered timber, jointed by hand

Each window begins as carefully selected, FSC® certified timber — engineered redwood, full hardwood, Accoya® or European oak. Sections are machined to our profiles and the frames assembled with traditional joinery, glued and pinned for a window that stays true for decades.

Sashes & frames

Every sash made to the opening

Sashes and frames are made to each individual opening rather than off a shelf — which is why our windows suit period, heritage and new-build properties alike. Glazing bars, deep bottom rails and run-through horns are all worked into the timber, not stuck on afterwards.

Curved & arched heads

Shaped and arched windows, made to suit the opening

Arched heads, curved tops and other shaped windows are among the most demanding joinery we make — each radius worked to match the opening rather than forced to a standard size. It is the capability that lets our timber windows sit correctly in characterful and period properties, where a plain square head simply will not do.

Finishing

Hand-finished and factory-sprayed

Components are sprayed and finished in controlled conditions, with each section hung to dry evenly on every face. A consistent, durable microporous finish protects the timber and gives the crisp, even paint surface that defines a quality window.

Ironmongery

Traditional hardware, properly fitted

From brass sash pulleys and weights to monkey-tail stays and period fasteners, ironmongery is routed in and fitted by hand. The details that make a window feel authentic are exactly the ones that take the most care to get right.

Leaded lights

Leaded glass for period and heritage work

For period, conservation and heritage properties we make traditional leaded lights in diamond or rectangular patterns — a genuine craft capability that helps our windows sit correctly in historic and listed buildings.
